Founder of Filming Italy Los Angeles and Filming Italy Speciale Venezia Tiziana Rocca has unveiled details about the seventh edition of Filming Italy Sardegna, which will be held at Forte Village in Cagliari from June 20 to 23, 2024.

“The festival has become a reference point for the promotion of audiovisual products,” comments Rocca, “and for many young students who have approached the world of art full of hope and curiosity.

Paz Vega, internationally recognized Spanish star, star of films such as Pedro Almodovar’s Hable con ella and Rambo: Last Blood with Sylvester Stallone, will preside over the short film jury, while actress Ambra Angiolini will serve as ambassador of the latest edition. Also expected is actress Bella Thorne who will present her short film Paint Her Red at the Academy Cinema.

Rocca comments, “The road is definitely uphill, because even though I’ve been doing this for so many years, for more than 10 years in Italy – 6 years of the Taormina Film Festival, 7 years of Filming Italy Sardegna, and 10 years of Filming Italy Los Angeles – I’ve always tried to support women in the film world within my festivals.” For Rocca, there is a “need for many more female directors who tell beautiful and interesting stories and put the figure of the woman in the limelight. Within my festival I have also created an award called the Filming Italy Woman Power Award – I think the path is now set, so hopefully many more women will choose women. A woman has to work twice as hard to prove herself, this is a rule in all professions, so you need a lot of determination, a lot of tenacity, a lot of willpower.”

In past years, Filming Italy Sardegna has hosted Laura Dern, Richard Gere, Harvey Keitel, Elizabeth Olsen, Heather Graham, Valeria Golino, Vanessa Hudgens, Winston Duke, Édgar Ramírez, Justin Hartley, Matt Dillon, Isabelle Huppert, Eva Longoria, Lola Ponce, Christopher Walken, Dennis Quaid, Dominc West and Alessandro Nivola. Films premiering in the upcoming edition include Cult Killer with Antonio Banderas, and Immaculate with Sydney Sweeney and Benedetta Porcaroli. The final program will be announced on June 14th during a press conference in the Sala Caduti di Nassirya of the Senate of the Italian Republic.
