Okay, let’s spill the tea on “The Better Sister“ out now on Amazon Prime. If you’re like me and you love a good family drama stuffed with secrets, twists, and that “what the heck just happened?!” feeling, then you’re probably going to be glued to this one. The story is good. It’s all about two sisters, a dead husband, and all the messy stuff that comes out from their past.
The way this show builds suspense is chef’s kiss. You’re constantly trying to figure out what went down, what secrets everyone’s hiding, and how these sisters are even going to look at each other after all the crap hits the fan. It’s got that psychological pull that keeps you hitting “next episode.”
While the story is fine, some of the acting isn’t always on the same level. Jessica Biel at times, falls flat, for me, not connecting with the character. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it can pull you out of the story for a sec. Elizabeth Banks and Kim Dickens are the real treats in this. You’ll be totally into the drama, and then someone’s delivery might just make you go, “Hmm, really?”
If you can overlook those little acting hiccups, “The Better Sister” is totally worth a watch for the killer plot alone. It’s got heart, it’s got betrayal, and it keeps you guessing. Plus, it’s a good one to binge with a glass of wine when you just need some juicy drama.
