The new live-action Snow White has arrived, and let’s just say it’s… a mixed bag.
On one hand, Rachel Zegler absolutely shines as the princess Snow White. Her talent is undeniable, and she brings a fresh energy and did the job.
But sadly, that’s where the praise pretty much ends.
The production value, to put it mildly, was underwhelming. The sets felt cheap and the costumes… well, let’s just say I’ve seen better at a local Halloween store. It’s hard to believe this film had the budget it reportedly did.
And then there’s Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. I’m not sure what happened there, but her performance felt over-the-top and just not believable as the evil queen. It lacked the nuance and subtlety you’d expect from such an iconic villain.
The story itself felt a bit…meh. There were some decent moments, but overall, it lacked the magic and charm of the original animated film. CGI “animated magical creatures” (Disney’s term) were a surprisingly good choice! I think it worked here.
Final Verdict:
While Rachel Zegler is a true standout, the rest of the film unfortunately fails to deliver. It’s a missed opportunity to truly elevate this classic tale.
